on September 11th 2001 . . .
Nottingham was a ghost town
. . . with very little traffic on the streets
and everyone taking the day off
to watch the end of the world
on the telly.
Meanwhile,
I'm recording a billboard.
Quite apart from the fact
that selling a British icon,
lock stock and goodwill included,
to the Germans, of all people,
is a poor way to celebrate the 40th anniversary
of mini production,
Her Majesty's government had also recently
poured tons of pounds into the company.
All in all, not Britain's proudest moment.
Cool car, though.
I'll take three, for an Italian Job.
